Tomer Yosef is the MC and chief rabble-rouser of Balkan Beat Box. Born and raised in the small town of Kfar Saba, Israel, just east of Tel Aviv, Tomer began his artistic career as a stand-up comedian in the 90's, gradually branching out into TV, radio, and ultimately feature films.

Laughing Underground marries tempered rock and reggae with Tomer's signature Middle Eastern dancehall delivery, pop-sensibility, and distinctly Mediterranean melodies. The album was produced by Tomer and Tamir Muskat, who also plays drums throughout. The album mostly devotes itself to Tomer's two favorite subjects: the pains and strains of love and politics.
